The Choralairs Choir was founded in 1963.
We learn a variety of music that focuses on those songs that we feel will entertain our audiences. These include Broadway show tunes, popular music from the 40’s to the 70’s, folk music and holiday favourites. We perform 6 to 8 one-hour concerts per season for seniors in Longterm Care Facilities, Retirement Residences or Seniors’ Community Centres in Toronto.
Although the ability to read music is helpful to become a member of the choir, it is not essential. No auditions are required: just a love of singing and the ability to carry a tune. The choir director teaches the songs step by step, always giving encouragement and, if needed or requested, repeat instruction on how to sing the more challenging sections. We have recordings of our parts so we can listen to them at home, in the car, etc., as needed.
Our current season runs from September 2019 to June 2020. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 pm at the Edithvale Community Centre, at the corner of Edithvale and Finch Ave. West between Bathurst and Yonge. Lots of free parking! New members are invited to join us for the September 10th and 17th Tuesday evening rehearsals. Please contact us before you come to a rehearsal if you can, so we can expect you and greet you with a binder and a buddy. Click here to contact us.
